About 826 Boston

826 Boston is a nonprofit youth writing and publishing organization that empowers traditionally underserved students ages 6-18 to find their voices, tell their stories, and gain communication skills to succeed in school and in life.

Since we opened our doors in 2007, 826 Boston has provided high-quality writing support and publishing opportunities to 25,000 students. 826 Boston programs are offered free of charge to students and families and include after-school tutoring, storytelling and bookmaking field trips, in-school writing and publishing projects, and creative writing workshops. 826 Boston is currently expanding by opening Writers' Rooms inside Boston Public Schools.

826 Boston publishes books of student writing that highlight the often-overlooked voices in Boston. By sharing these important stories with the world, 826 Boston provides a platform for student voices and bolsters students' confidence and skills in writing. 826 Boston believes that now, more than ever, it is important to listen to, lift up, and honor what young people have to say.
